Voyager Library Catalog: Request an Article

Requesting an article from another UH Library

If an article that you need is in a journal that another UH Library has, you can request the article be scanned and emailed to you.  Here are the instructions:

  1. Locate the article in a database like PubMed and click the "find it" button; an article linker page should open.
  2. Verify that the article is not available online (Step 1).
  3. Click the "ISSN" or "Journal Title" links to see if the journal is available at a UH Library.
  4. In the journal record, check the holdings information to verify that the volume you need is available.
  5. Click "Get This Item" in the blue box on the upper right side of the page.
  6. Log in with your Library barcode and last name or UH username and password (same as for UH email).
  7. Click on "JABSOM Fac/Student/Staff Article Request."
  8. Fill in the article citation information.
  9. Put your email in the comment field.

The article will be emailed to you within 1-5 days.

Instructions with Screenshots

  • Usually people realize an article is not available at the Health Sciences Library while searching a database like PubMed/MEDLINE.


  • If the article is not available online (Step 1), click the ISSN or Journal link (or both) in Step 2.


  • Once you are in Voyager, check the Holdings information:



  • Scroll to the top of the page with the Holdings information, and click "Get This Item"



  • Login with your UH username and password or your Library barcode.

  • Login page



  • Click the "JABSOM Fac/Student/Staff Article Request" link


  • Fill out the form and click submit.  You will receive the article via email.
