Paraphrasing - Putting it in your own words

As you work through your learning issues and compile your handouts, you must make sure that you are processing and synthesizing the information and not simply cutting and pasting from the resources. You can ensure this by paraphrasing, using your own words, to summarize your learning issues. You want to ensure that you are rephrasing the key concepts of the resources you use without changing the meaning. To do this, use as few words as possible from the original, jot down the key points from the resource and then try rewriting it without looking at the original.
